About the Well Digest
Science-backed wellbeing in a world of wellness noise
I’m Karen, a Registered Associate Nutritionist (AfN), certified health coach, yoga teacher, and PhD-trained cell biologist. For over 15 years, I have worked in the pharmaceutical industry monitoring the safety of medicines. Today, I combine that scientific rigour with practical, real-life tools to help people make sense of health, nutrition, and wellbeing without the hype.
When I’m not reading scientific journals or writing for The Well Digest, you’ll usually find me out on the trails, exploring the mountains, or walking my dog.

Why I Started The Well Digest
I first stepped into the world of “wellness” in 2017 after leaving my corporate job to complete my yoga teacher training in India. That experience opened up a new way of thinking about health, and eventually led me to train as a health coach.
But the more I learned, the more I noticed a problem: advice was everywhere… and not all of it was safe, helpful, or even accurate.
That sparked a bigger question:
What does the evidence actually say?
To find out, I returned to academia to complete a Master’s in Clinical Nutrition, focusing on evidence-based approaches to health and disease prevention. I developed a special interest in the gut-brain connection, ageing, and cognitive decline, particularly how our diet and habits shape long-term wellbeing.
Then came the pandemic and suddenly, wellness advice online became louder, more confident, and more chaotic.
Pseudoscience isn’t new, but our daily exposure to it has exploded. In this landscape, where the line between science and opinion keeps blurring, it’s become harder than ever to know who or what to trust.
What The Well Digest Offers
The Well Digest is my response to that noise.
It’s a hub for clear, evidence-based insights on health, nutrition, movement, and mindfulness. It’s where I translate the science, share the practices that actually help, and spotlight the work of experts I trust so you can feel more informed, not more confused.
You’ll find articles on topics like:
- Nutrition and daily energy
- Gut health and mental clarity
- Sustainable habits that support long-term health
- The psychology of wellbeing and change
- Yoga, movement, and resilience
This isn’t a place for hacks, extremes, or “one true way” thinking. It’s a space for nuance, curiosity, and practical advice.
